Cabbage Thoran (Cabbage Dry
Veg)Kerala Style
Ingredients
1 medium sized cabbage
1 medium sized onion finely chopped
10-12 curry leaves
1 tsp black mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
1 green chili chopped
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 cup fresh grated
coconut
1 tbsp coconut oil or any
refind oil
salt as per taste
Method (How to make Kerala style Cabbage)
Wash the cabbage and
shred or thinly sliced it.
Heat the coconut oil or
any oil in a wok add the mustard seed, cumin seeds and fry till they start crackle, add the
chopped onion and sauté till
translucent, add curry leaves, green chillies and sauté for few seconds.
Add turmeric powder and
asafoetida, add chopped cabbage and salt and mix well. Cover the wok and let
them cook on medium flame till cabbage cook and water evaporate.
Add grated coconut and
stir continuously for 1-2 minutes or
till the water dries up fully.
Garnish with coriander
leaves and serve the cabbage hot thoran hot with some steamed rice and sambhar or
paratha.
