Naan
Ingredients
1 cup whole
wheat flour
1 cup all
purpose flour (maida)
1 tsp
baking powder
¼ tsp
baking soda
salt as
required
3 tbsp curd
2 tbsp milk
½ cup water
or as required
1 ½ tsp sugar
2 tbls oil
1 tsp onion
seeds
1 tsp
sesame seeds
1 tbls
butter of ghee for applying over naan
Method (How to make Naan at home)
Mix sugar,
water, milk and yogurt and mix till sugar dissolved.
Sieve the
flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Mix wet
ingredients into the flour.
knead with
your hands to make a smooth dough. if the dough looks dry then add some water
and knead again. the dough should be smooth and soft.
Cover with
a wet cloth and keep aside for 30 minutes. after 30 minutes, add oil and knead
the dough again.
Cover with
the wet cloth and keep in warm place for 2-3 hours.
Make medium
sized balls of the dough.
Roll in a
small circle and sprinkle some onion and sesame seeds on the dough.
Roll into a
four or five inches round or oval shape.
Heat a tava
or griddle, place the naan and partly cook form both the sides of the naan on
the tava then place the naan with the help of tongs on direct fire and cook from both the sides till brown spots
appeared.
Remove from
the heat and and apply some butter, ghee on the naan.
You can
also cook the naan in a tandoor or bake them in the preheated oven for 3-4
minutes.
Serve hot
naan with your favourite gravy like matar paneer or kadhai paneer or dal makkhani.
