Moong
daal Halwa
Ingredients
2 cups yellow
moong
Daal (split yellow lentils)
2 cups ghee
1 1/2 cup
sugar
1 1/2
cups water
1/2 tsp green cardamom
powder
1 cup khoya
1 cup finely chopped
mixed dried fruits (cashew, almonds)
Method
Wash the daal with plenty of
water thoroughly
and soak the daal in water for 3-4 hours.
Grind to a smooth paste in
a grinder
without adding any water.
Heat the ghee in a
heavy-bottomed
wok or
pan on a medium flame till warm.
Add the moong daal paste
to this ghee and stir to mix. Cook the moong daal, on low flame, stirring
frequently till it begins to turn golden and ghee
seperater
from the daal.
Add the khoya and mix well.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes and stir continuesly.
Heat
sugar and water in another pan. Cook till sugar dissolves completely.
Add
khoya and
moong
dal mixture alongwith cardamom powder
Cook on a medium flame
for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the dried fruits and cook for another
2 minutes. Turn off the fire.
Garnish with chopped nuts
and serve
hot in this winter.
